How to better navigate surgery: Discover Patient Blood Management a medical approach endorsed by global health leaders. With an adult body carrying 1 to 1.5 gallons of blood \(4-6 liters\), responsible for vital functions like oxygen transport, our own blood is critical to our health. Optimally managing and preserving a patient?s own blood is therefore one of the key objectives in elective surgery. This is where Patient Blood Management, or PBM, comes into play. The World Health Organization champions PBM as a "systematic, multidisciplinary, multiprofessional concept" to routinely minimize the risks of anemia, blood loss, and bleeding disorders and places the patient at the center of care. When fully implemented, PBM can deliver highly tangible benefits for healthcare systems and patients.
